Subsocial Is Moving To Polkadot!

Subsocial Is Moving To Polkadot!

On January 15th at 11:37PM, the Subsocial team secured a spot on Polkadot by winning auction #37 with a self-funded bid of 15,000 DOT.

Functioning as the only live social networking protocol in the Polkadot and Kusama ecosystem, Subsocial solves the problems of Web2 social networks (such as censorship, monetization fees, and algorithm manipulation) by letting users own their content and social connections. Subsocial has been live since 2019, and onboarded to the Kusama relay chain on January 8th, 2022.

The last year saw many improvements to the Subsocial ecosystem, as will 2023. As Polkadot continues toward its vision, the Subsocial team will work to integrate with many other parachains in the ecosystem, providing social features in many types of applications.

In the coming months, the Subsocial blockchain will migrate from Kusama to Polkadot. To reiterate, Subsocial will be leaving Kusama, and moving to Polkadot. There will still only be one Subsocial blockchain. The network’s functionality will be unaffected, and all tokens (including vesting tokens) will be migrated as well. From a user perspective, nothing will change, but this move enables many new opportunities from a technical and business perspective.

We would like to thank all of the participants in our Kusama crowdloan in 2021, and will continue to update you further as the team begins work on the migration.
