Donations On Subsocial

The world is moving fast from Web 2.0 to Web3, from the attention economy, to the ownership economy. Here creators regain the power to control their works, and fans can express their passion in novel ways never before seen.

26 years have passed since Bill Gates coined the phrase “Content is King” but the problem of making a proper living as a content author is still here, even in modern formats. Platforms like YouTube and Patreon extract value and take cuts at their discretion, leaving musicians, streamers, and artists no choice but to agree to the terms of revenue sharing. Only a handful of top performers benefit from the payment models optimized in the interest of the centralized distribution channels and content aggregators. Subsocial is here to fix that.

As a creator, you can now receive donations directly from your supporters, with no middlemen. This first native monetization method marks the beginning of Social Finance, unlocking technical and business opportunities, celebrating a true creative spirit, and the freedom to choose your own tribe.

Initially, support for donations was added to Sub.ID in February in order to support Ukraine, and now to Subsocial’s web app as well. It already resulted in millions of dollars being raised.

Below you will find a few tips on how you can use it today:

Donate buttons can be found on profile pages, as well as at the bottom of posts.

You can tip from any of your accounts using a wide variety of tokens, and the tip will go straight to the recipient, with no one taking a fee!

Make sure to bring your whole community to Subsocial so they can join the fun, and please let us know how your experience is.

What should be our next monetization focus: NFT mechanics, creator staking, or even programmable economic models? Please share your opinion in our community (see the links below), so that everyone can benefit from it.

About Subsocial Subsocial is a social networking platform built to support the social networks of the future. These apps will feature built-in monetization methods and censorship resistance, where users will own their content and social graphs. Built with Substrate pallets, Subsocial is a one-of-a-kind in the Dotsama ecosystem, and designed specifically for social interactions. These interactions do not have to be specifically social networking, as Subsocial can support apps like YouTube, Shopify, or even Airbnb.
